How to Care for Heavy Embroidered Navratri Outfits

Post-festival cleaning, airing out heavy cotton, and storing mirror-work garments safely.

After-event care

  1. Air the garment before packing so sweat and moisture do not remain trapped.
  2. Check mirrors, embroidery and tassels for loose threads.
  3. Spot-clean only if the care label permits it; heavy handwork often needs specialist dry cleaning.
  4. Wrap mirror-work or embellished pieces in breathable cotton or muslin rather than bare plastic.
  5. Fold with tissue or cloth between heavily embellished surfaces.
  6. Store away from dampness and inspect before the next season.

Why heavy festive garments need space

Mirror work, zari and embroidery can crease or snag when compressed. If the garment is very heavy, refold it periodically rather than leaving the same stress line for a year.
