Post-Navratri Detox: Transitioning Back to a Regular Diet

Safely reintroducing wheat, onions, and heavy spices after nine days of light, gluten-free fasting.

Think transition, not “detox”

After a restricted festival diet, the goal is to reintroduce the foods you normally eat without overwhelming digestion. The body does not need a marketed “detox cleanse.” A gradual return is especially sensible after several days of lower grain intake or heavy reliance on fried vrat foods.

Two-day transition idea

  • Start with familiar home-cooked meals rather than a very rich feast.
  • Reintroduce wheat or regular rice in moderate portions.
  • Add onion/garlic and stronger spices gradually if you have avoided them and notice sensitivity.
  • Keep fluids, fruit and vegetables consistent.
  • Use leftovers safely; do not keep cooked food simply because it is prasad if it has been stored unsafely.
