How to Perform the Daily Navratri Aarti at Home

The sequence of offering light, water, and flowers, alongside the traditional lyrics and their meaning.

A simple daily aarti sequence

  1. Prepare the puja space and light the diya.
  2. Offer flowers or other items according to family practice.
  3. Recite the day’s prayer or mantra.
  4. Perform aarti by moving the light in controlled circles before the deity.
  5. Conclude with pranam and distribute prasad.

About aarti songs

Families use different Durga aartis and regional songs. Rather than reproducing a long lyric text here, use the version followed by your family or temple and learn pronunciation/meaning from a trusted source. The common structure praises the Goddess, requests protection and expresses gratitude.

Keep the flame controlled

Aarti is devotional, but it is still open-flame handling. Use a stable plate, keep sleeves and hair away from the flame, and supervise children closely.
