Kanya Pujan with respect
- Invite children and guardians in advance rather than treating participation as assumed.
- Prepare a clean, comfortable seating area.
- Follow your family tradition for washing feet or another respectful welcome only with consent and comfort.
- Offer the meal: often halwa, puri and chana in North Indian traditions: while accommodating allergies and dietary needs.
- Give a modest gift, book, fruit, school supply or other thoughtful item.
- Thank the children and guardians without making the ritual burdensome.
Avoid symbolic respect without everyday respect
The ritual honors girls as embodiments of divine feminine power. A meaningful observance should be consistent with how girls and women are treated outside the ceremony: through safety, education, dignity and equal respect.
