Every wish has its own link (for example #wish-11), so a shared link opens the exact wish. Shlokas follow the common published text; the short greetings are new compositions. Want to send a picture instead? The Sanskrit Navratri card has a card you can share or download.
A quick guide to the right verse or greeting for the right person and the right day of Navratri.
A classical shloka shows respect and needs no explanation.
Wishes addressed to the whole family, with भवताम्.
One line that fits on a status picture.
When the kalash is set and the akhand jyot is lit.
For Kanya Pujan and the last nights.
For the days of Saraswati puja and Vidyarambham.
Why भवताम्? The short wishes on this page address the reader with the respectful plural, भवताम् (your) and भवद्भ्यः (to you), so they suit a whole family or any elder. For one man you can write भवतः, and for one woman भवत्याः: जगदम्बा भवतः कुटुम्बस्य कल्याणं करोतु।
Know what you are sending. These are the Sanskrit words and endings that recur in the wishes and shlokas, with how to say them.

Sanskrit is the language in which Navratri is worshipped. The kalash is installed with Sanskrit mantras, the nine forms of Durga are invoked by their names from the Devi Kavacham, and through the nine nights many homes and temples recite the Durga Saptashati, the 700 verses of the Devi Mahatmya that tell of the Goddess's victory over Mahishasura, Shumbha and Nishumbha. A Sanskrit wish carries that tradition with it: when you send a line from the Saptashati, you are sending a verse that has been recited in Navratri for well over a thousand years.
The Devi Mahatmya, also called the Durga Saptashati or Chandi Path, is a text of 700 verses in 13 chapters within the Markandeya Purana. Many families recite it through the nine nights.
The Devi Kavacham (armour), Argala Stotram (bolt) and Kilakam (pin) are recited before the Saptashati. Two wishes on this page come from the Argala, and the names of the nine Durgas from the Kavacham.
In Bengal the Durga Puja season opens on Mahalaya with recitation from the Chandi before dawn, a custom kept alive for generations by the radio programme Mahishasuramardini.
In the last days of Navratri, books and instruments are placed before Saraswati, and on Vijayadashami small children write their first letters, often beginning with a Sanskrit invocation.

Say "नवरात्रपर्वणः हार्दिक्यः शुभकामनाः" (Navaratra-parvanah hardikyah shubhakamanah), heartfelt good wishes for the festival of Navratri, or simply "शुभं नवरात्रम्" (Shubham Navaratram), happy Navratri.
Both are used. नवरात्रम् (navaratram) is the neuter form and नवरात्रिः (navaratrih) the feminine; both mean "nine nights". Hindi and most Indian languages use Navratri, from the feminine.
It means "the Goddess who dwells in all beings". The verse comes from chapter 5 of the Devi Mahatmya, where the gods praise the Goddess as present in every being as strength, as mother, as peace, as wealth and in many other forms, each followed by "namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namah", salutations to her again and again.
Yes. Sending a verse from the Devi Mahatmya is a traditional and respectful way to greet elders, teachers and family in Navratri. Each shloka on this page carries its source, a transliteration and its meaning, so the person receiving it can read and understand it.
Most come from the Devi Mahatmya (Durga Saptashati), chapters 4, 5, 11 and 12, part of the Markandeya Purana. Two come from the Argala Stotram and the names of the nine Durgas from the Devi Kavacham, both recited before the Saptashati. The last is the traditional shanti prayer "Sarve bhavantu sukhinah". The short greetings are new compositions.
Sharad Navratri 2026 begins with Ghatasthapana on Sunday 11 October; the muhurat in New Delhi is 6:19 to 10:12 AM. Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami fall on Monday 19 October in India, and Vijayadashami (Dussehra) is on Tuesday 20 October.
Tap WhatsApp under any wish. It opens WhatsApp with the Sanskrit text and a link to it already typed, so you only have to pick the chat. Copy Roman copies the transliteration instead, and on a phone, Share opens your phone's share sheet.
Which verse does your family recite in Navratri? Share a shloka, a reading or a correction; readers' notes appear here after review.
